Mission of the Business Information Systems Program

The Bachelor's program in Business Information Systems at the Egyptian Institute of the Alexandria Academy for Management and Accounting prepares graduates who are academically and ethically qualified and capable of actively contributing to advancing sustainable development and entrepreneurship, with scientific research skills in the field of Business Information Systems, to meet the needs of the local and regional labor market.

By the end of this program, the graduate will be able to:

  • Use the scientific method in thinking and problem-solving.
  • Apply acquired knowledge and skills in the field of specialization to positively serve the community and surrounding environment.
  • Communicate effectively with others.
  • Engage with global developments and anticipate their nature and impact in their field of specialization.
  • Pursue continuous learning to develop knowledge and professional skills related to the field.
  • Demonstrate commitment and responsibility and complete assigned tasks in accordance with legal rules and ethical and professional standards.
  • Prepare feasibility studies and evaluate investment proposals.
  • Use computers and information technology.
  • Identify problems that can be addressed using computer-based information systems and know the tools needed to solve them.
  • Understand the fundamentals of the systems development life cycle (SDLC), information networks, information security, data mining, e-commerce, geographic information systems (GIS), and crisis management.
  • Manage and leverage organizational data and information; design data/information models; and manage resources and projects for developing information systems.
  • Implement solutions, including using appropriate programming languages, web-based systems and tools, design methodologies, and database systems.
  • Apply principles of effective information management, information organization, information mining, and information retrieval skills for different types of information including text, images, audio, and video.
  • Know the basics of intelligent information systems technologies.
  • Specify, design, and implement computer-based information systems, and evaluate them in terms of overall quality attributes and potential trade-offs posed by the given problem.
  • Apply information systems solutions to functional, cross-organizational, operational, managerial, and executive problems and opportunities.
  • Describe the characteristics of different components of information systems and use appropriate tools and techniques to analyze, design, and build information systems.
  • Communicate effectively orally, in writing, and visually.
  • Work effectively as an individual and as a member of a team.
  • Manage time independently and effectively.
  • Be aware of major ethical issues that affect information systems and their responsibilities as information science professionals.

Academic Degrees

Decision No. (217) dated (5/7/2023) by the Supreme Council of Universities equates the Bachelor's degree in "Management Information Systems" (Arabic track) with the Bachelor of Commerce degree awarded by Egyptian universities governed by Law No. (49) of 1972 and its executive regulations (effective until the end of the 2028/2029 academic year) .

The Council of Universities has decided to amend Decision No. 217 dated 05/07/2025 as follows: Renewal of the equivalency of the Bachelor's degree "studied in Arabic" granted by the Egyptian Institute of Alexandria Academy for Management and Accounting in Alexandria, A.R.E., in the specialization: Business Information Systems, for students who studied according to the amended regulations applied since the academic year 2021/2022, with the Bachelor's degree in Commerce granted by Egyptian universities subject to the Universities Organization Law No. 49 of 1972. This decision shall remain in effect until the academic year 2028/2029.
