Prof. Adel Abdel-Hamid Ezz

  • He holds a Bachelor of Commerce, Cairo University, Accounting Division with honors in 1954.
  • He studied Master of Accountancy at the Faculty of Commerce, Cairo University, and studied at the Faculty of Law, Ain Shams University until the third year, and cut this study off because he traveled on a mission to Switzerland in 1957.
  • He received a diploma in sports and insurance and a doctorate in economics and insurance with an excellent general grade from Saint Galen University in 1962.
  • Ph.D. in Economics and Insurance (St. Galen University – Switzerland) with an excellent general grade in 1962.
  • He founded the Egyptian Institute of the Alexandria Academy of Management and Accountancy in 1996 and headed it until his death.
  • He taught at universities (Cairo – Alexandria – Zagazig – Mansoura – Assiut – Beirut Arab University – Institute of Statistics – Sadat Academy for Administrative Sciences – Egyptian Institute of Alexandria Academy).
  • He contributed with great effort to many training courses inside and outside Egypt, in (Qatar-Kingdom of Saudi Arabia-Libya).
  • He worked as a pioneer for the Student Union of the Faculty of Commerce, a pioneer for one of the Cairo University committees, a pioneer for the Beirut Arab University Union, and he supervised sports, social and artistic activities.
  • Active member of Al-Ahly Club since 1966, and active member of Al-Jazira, Al-Said and Al-Zohour clubs.

Honors and Certificates of Appreciation

  • Recipient of the Order of the Republic of the first class (Arab Republic of Egypt).
  • Recipient of the Order of the Republic, first class (Tunisia).
  • Recipient of the Order of the Grand Cross (Cyprus).
  • He also received many certificates of appreciation from many local and international academic bodies.
  • The Sadat Academy for Administrative Sciences honored him by granting him a fellowship degree (Honorary Doctorate from the Sadat Academy for Administrative Sciences).

Leadership and management positions and positions

  • Worked as an accounts inspector and tax officer immediately after graduation.
  • An officer was assigned to the armed forces (mobilization department in Dokki).
  • He spent a period of scientific experience in the Social Insurance Institution in Switzerland and in the Swiss Reinsurance Company.
  • He returned to his homeland and worked in the Insurance Authority (the Supervisory and Control Authority) as director of the Department of Compulsory Insurance and director of technical research for the Egyptian General Insurance Corporation.
  • He was appointed as a teacher, then an assistant professor, then a dean, then a dean of the Faculty of Commerce, Cairo University from 1975-1979. He founded the Faculty of Commerce, Cairo University (Beni Suef), and was its first dean.
  • He was chosen as an insurance and economic advisor to the General Authority for Health Insurance and prepared all the mathematical, statistical and insurance studies for the first health insurance experiment in Alexandria Governorate in 1965 during the era of the late Minister / Mohamed Nassar.
  • He was appointed head of the National Institute for Administrative Development and founded the Sadat Academy for Administrative Sciences and was its first president.
  • Active member of Al-Ahly Club and was elected to the board of directors in 1976.
  • He was chosen as a member of the Board of Directors of Misr Insurance Company and the Supreme Council for the Insurance Sector.
  • In addition to his work, he founded the Suez Canal Insurance Company and served as its head for five years from 1980-1985 and was able to achieve an average annual profit of 100%.
  • He worked as a managing director of the Misr Company for Real Estate and Tourism Investment and achieved a great leap in the company’s profits from 1993-2000.
  • He worked as an advisor to the late Minister of Insurance, Dr. Hassan Al-Sharif, then the late Mr. Mohamed Abdel-Fattah, and contributed to the preparation of Social Insurance Law No. 79 of 1975.
  • He worked as an advisor (insurance sector affairs) to the late Minister of Economy, Dr. Zaki Shafei, and contributed to the preparation of Supervision and Control Law No. 10 of 1981.
  • He was chosen as a member of the Shura Council for 21 years, from 1980 to 2001.
  • He was chosen as Minister of Scientific Research in 1986 and Minister of Education in 1990-1991, and he continued as Minister of Scientific Research until October 1993.
  • He was chosen as a member of the specialized national councils until his death.
  • He was chosen as a member of the Board of Trustees of the Radio and Television Union until his death.
  • He taught and supervised many Masters and Ph.D. theses at Cairo University, Mansoura University, Sadat Academy for Management Studies and Beirut Arab University.
